3M Film Specs
We have four basic categories of window films. While many people may think these are similar products, each type is designed for a specific application and has some significant differences from other products. Generally people want a window film because they have a problem to solve:
- The window lets in too much heat, or glare.
- UV light is damaging furnishings.
- There is a need for privacy.
- The exterior appearance of the windows is not attractive.
- The window allows too much heat to escape to the outside.
- A broken window is dangerous.
All products share some features - they stop most of the UV light, they have a pressure sensitive adhesive to hold securely to the glass, and they have an abrasion resistant coating on top of the film to reduce minor scratching damage.
